Set to be released on April 4, 2014, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, could potentially star Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker), which is rather exciting considering that Falcon - a hero with a telepathic link to birds and a suit that allows him to fly - is one of mainstream comics’ first black superheroes and probably the first American one.
Falcon, aka Sam Wilson, was based in Harlem and had many street adventures as Captain America’s partner in the 1970s comics. Currently, he plays an integral role in Captain America’s storylines, allowing for speculation that the sequel will borrow heavily from writer Ed Brubaker’s take on the title.
The movie will be directed by siblings Anthony and Joe Russo, known notably for the film “You, Me and Dupree” and NBC’s “Community”.
