We are in a world in which a larger Avengers universe could be granted within prime time television. When I heard the initial announcement of this series being worked on, I couldn’t help but wonder how they could go about an idea like this. In pondering this, I decided to put down some ideas involving a potential series. In turn I keep my thoughts grounded to what could work within a TV budget, and it’s surprisingly more than you’d think.
S.H.I.E.L.D would be the most cost effective for sure, that could easily work for television. You could have a set team of agents and rotate cases every week fairly easily. You could introduce the multitude of super villains lurking within the Marvel Universe on a weekly basis. I think that could be a lot of fun. You could even introduce the other members of S.H.I.E.L.D through this series too. I could see a series like this working into the upcoming Winter Soldier film if the timing was right.
The other idea I have for a TV series is the possibility of a second Avengers team. The concept of the Avengers Initiative is still in play so why not a second team introduced for the TV series? Since there are multiple Avengers teams in the Marvel Universe this is a workable idea. You could introduce a larger mix of heroes into the TV series and the possibilities are pretty endless. While the main team is away, that doesn’t mean threats aren’t happening, therefore a second Avengers team. That would be another way to widen the scale of the TV Marvel Universe.
Playing further with the second Avengers team, why not Avengers Academy? Instead of just the kid or teen heroes, include older heroes who are just learning the ropes through this school. You could have S.H.I.E.L.D running the place and even set up a character like The Gauntlet from She-Hulk to teach them. This would give a nice entry level way into the universe too, with a new group of students entering into the school and you following their journey. I say that would be a fun idea.
Those are just two ideas I had for an Avengers TV series. They both work within the confines of television while expanding much more upon the mythos of the Marvel Movie-verse Avengers. So that’s where I leave this to you readers out there, what sort of Avengers TV series would you like to see? Fire me a line and let me know! I’m anxious to hear what you all have to say on this.
