Guardians of the Galaxy has been one of my more loved creations from the Marvel Universe since I was a kid. I was an avid fan of the 90’s Guardians of the Galaxy series then and followed the Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning series too. When the initial word of the movie based off the Guardians first started, I was ecstatic. Even more so when I saw the concept art from SDCC and saw Rocket Raccoon and Groot. I was a happy fan indeed.
Now the word is out on what the Guardians of the Galaxy movie is going to be about. It looks like they’re keeping with U.S Air Force Pilot Vance Astro a.k.a Major Victory playing a role in the team. He’s going to be the point of view character relating to the other Guardians he’s interacting with. The others are going to be ex-convicts with a certain item that everyone wants. Now what could that be? That remains to be seen.
From the concept art to what this movie is going to be about, there’s an immense amount of potential here. I hope this becomes a big movie just to see more cosmic properties developed in the Marvel movie-verse. Considering this seems like the movie that could potentially set up the crux for the Thanos story, I’m hopeful that audiences will respond. Since it looks like the time is right for a space opera set in the Marvel movie-verse. Guardians of the Galaxy is due out on Aug. 1st, 2014, the perfect time for Marvel to explore their cosmic history.
