In the rising of the New DCU, Lois Lane and Superman had their relationship severed. We always wondered exactly why that even had to happen, now we know. On August 29th in Justice League #12, the newest power couple will be revealed to the world, Superman and Wonder Woman. That’s right fans, the couple that people always wondered if something was going on anyway is now a real thing. As Geoff Johns has revealed, “This is the new status quo.”

Initially I wasn’t quite sure what to make of this. I’m not exactly shocked by these developments. The reactions to this from the fan base is going to be something to behold. There’s a lot of history with the pairing of these characters, people are going to either love this or hate it with an unholy passion. At this point, I give them credit for being just so blatant about the whole idea. Just throw the story out into the wild and letting the cards fall where they may.

Geoff Johns and Jim Lee both know that this is going to be avidly discussed around the water-cooler. At this point, People are already talking, people are already curious, and that isn’t a bad thing. Say what you want about this one, I could actually see people that normally don’t buy comics checking this out just to see what happens. While this isn’t the first time DC has flirted with the idea of Superman and Wonder Woman, they’re now making it official. On August 29th, we’ll get to say hello to the hottest couple of the New DCU, may their courtship not be plagued with continuity errors.
