NetherRealm Studios and WB Games are keeping gamers on their toes for Injustice: Gods Among Us. While the fighting game will finally be released next month, new features and trailers continue to tease what’s in store for players. Amazon Germany’s listing for the game reveals that it will offer a “Blackest Night” downloadable content preorder bonus. This includes a Black Lantern costume for Batman and a special Zombie Mode for all the playable characters.
For anyone who hasn’t preordered the highly anticipated DC Comics fighting game from NetherRealm, Injustice: Gods Among Us yet, you might be curious in this incentive from Gamestop; A Superman: Red Son Expansion pack.
Each new trailer, photo and new character introduced for Injustice: Gods Among Us ramps up the excitement for the game’s release. It looks fun for gamers of all levels and DC Comics fans of all ages. And if your favorite Green Lantern is Guy Gardner rather than Hal Jordan, thengame developer Ed Boon has a solution: alternate skins for the characters.
The hotly awaited DC Comics fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, developed by NetherRealms Studios, is adding a comic to the games release. The co-founder of NetherRealms, Ed Boon, revealed that a comic is being worked on to tell the story of what happened before the game. Considering the potential Injustice: Gods Among Us holds, it’s not shocking that a comic is in the works for the series. No release date is announced at this time.
This week, at the Tokyo Game Show, NetherRealm Studios released their newest trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us. I’ve been happily following the teasers for this game for a while, but this is the most important trailer to drop by far. It’s important specifically for two reasons: it proves that Kevin Conroy will be the voice of Batman and it shows a couple of Amazons assisting Wonder Woman in beating the living hell out of Cyborg like the ref just turned his back.
And they are beating him with sticks.

A new trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us was released at Comic-Con today, featuring some pretty heavy violence and thrilling action between DC heroes and villains. Thankfully, this trailer lets the fastpaced gameplay shine. The first preview from E3 last month was composed of many cinematics and a few teasing hints of gameplay. But in the newest footage, we are treated to special character moves and brawls in recognizable DC Universe settings (Metropolis! The Batcave!) Nightwing and Cyborg also make their debut as playable characters alongside Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Batman, Harley Quinn, and Solomon Grundy.
This fighting game is the second from the DC Universe to be developed by NetherRealm Studios, the previous being Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon stated in a Gamespot interview that the stages in the game feature destructible environments and interactive objects the player can use to inflict damage on an opponent (witness Superman’s brutal headbashing at the hands of The Flash around 0:45 seconds in.) Characters’ fighting styles are either fueled by power or gadgets. Power characters like Superman use heavy objects from the environment to attack. Gadget characters like Batman are more agile than power characters and use these objects to dodge attacks.
I was raised on Mortal Kombat in terms of fighting games, and Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was pretty awesome. I can’t wait to see a fighting game composed entirely of DC characters when Injustice is released next year.
