Every week from now until eternity, we’ll be featuring totally badass artists from DeviantART that we think deserve more recognition. It’s awesome to find people whose art you admire, but this is the perfect venue to feature it so that others can admire it too! It’s also extremely awesome to see other people’s interpretations of well-known characters.

When I first saw Mars Attacks as a kid, I had no idea about its comic book origins or even if other people had seen it too! Now several years later, it seems Mars Attacks is still as popular ever. Mantic Games – the same people who produced Warpath and Dreadball – have acquired its first licensed product: Mars Attacks!

Although I’m a hardcore fan of the original 150 Pokemon, I eventually lost interest in all the various sequels and the ever increasing amount of Pokemon being discovered. Additionally, it became insufferable that Ash – after at least ten years – still remained not only ten, but a no more better Pokemon trainer than when he first started! But, with this new indie approach to Pokemon, I’m thrilled to bring you Viridian City – a noir version of the Pokemon universe by Ray Bruwelheide.

In case you’ve been waiting with bated breath for a new Dungeons & Dragons film to be released – you’re in luck! Warner Bros has decided that a reboot of the renowned rpg-based movie franchise is in order, particularly after the flop they created in 2000.

After only being around for two years, on May 23rd, Square-Enix cutting its online Manga Store service in North America and Manga Boutique in France. The service initially launched in 2010, debuting at the Comic-Con Convention, as a way for foreigners to gain access to Japanese manga titles. With the advent of the internet, many titles – both obscure and popular – began appearing online illegally, so the manga store acted as a way to curb this.

Several months ago I had heard about Amala’s Blade, so when the opportunity came for me to review it, I happily jumped at it. And I certainly wasn’t disappointed - the world building in Amala’s Blade is really subtle. There’s not a lot of info dumping, and you pick up on what the story is about as you go. While the concept of machine vs “natural” humans reminds me a lot of Final Fantasy X - and probably isn’t the most original plot device - I still found it enjoyable.

When I first caught a glimpse of Winick’s name, I had an “aha!” moment. Anyone who is familiar with DC will probably recognize the name and works of Judd Winick, who has worked on titles like Batwing, Catwoman, and Justice League: Generation Lost. Now, Random House will be publishing an original graphic novel series from Winick titled Hilo.

When comiXology SUBMIT was announced – I was truly ecstatic. The barrier – both financial and promotion wise – seemed to slowly be falling away for indie comic creators. Now, Amazon has joined the ranks with its own Kindle Comic Creator.

Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas has teamed up with Intel Corporation futurist Brian David Johnson (who is pioneering development in A.I., robotics, and using science fiction as a design tool) to work with IDW to publish a forty-eight page one-shot titled Wizards and Robots.

Kurtis Wiebe (Debris, Between Worlds) has announced that he’ll be releasing a new graphic novel titled Rat Queens, made in conjunction with co-writer Meg Dejmal and artist John ‘Roc’ Upchurch (Vescell). Wiebe describes the book as “a violent action comedy with a blend of Tank Girl, Bridesmaids and Lord of the Rings. “
