Manga fans get ready because a theme park just for you is about to get built! Now you may have to travel half way around the world and wait a couple of years, but it will all be worth it.
I heart Lea Hernandez.
Because of my hearting of her and her works, it pleases me greatly to announce that Hernandez has started a new webcomic called Bani Garu, which centers on her time spent in Japan with the anime studio Gainax.
Hello otakus, after a long break, we’re back! Now here’s your manga/anime news for the week:
We know that the new Sailor Moon series will be debuting this winter, so (*fingers crossed*) an English dub shouldn’t be too far behind. Although this is awesome, it will actually be pretty bitter-sweet for those of us that grew up with the dubs of the original series because, according to Linda Ballantyne – the original voice of Serena/Sailor Moon – they’ll be using a whole new group of voice actors.
Vertical announced at Anime Weekend Atlanta that they have licensed Tetsuya Tsutsui’s Prophecy, a three volume series released back in 2011. Initially running in Jump Kai, the series focuses on the anti-cybercrime section in Tokyo, as they investigate videos released onto the internet featuring a man wearing a mask made out of newspaper. The newspaper-masked man within these videos predicts terrible crimes all across Tokyo.
It’s been a while, but after a much need hiatus I’m back! Welcome to Mite Kudasai! (Watch!) Yonde Kudasai! (Read!) Here’s where I pick three anime series or films for fans to watch and give my reasons why you should watch. One or more of the picks will be a classic anime or they’ll be anime that are current/popular. I’ll also pick two manga that fans should read and give my reasons why. And here…we…go!
Sanrio – creator of Hello Kitty, My Melody, and Badtz-Maru - is holding an “Eat or be Eaten” election to decide which of his teams of food-based characters will be treated to a major debut on December 12th.
The announcement that Satsuki Yoshino’s Barakamon manga is being adapted into an anime should have many an Otaku excited. Barakamon is a Japanese slice-of-life comedy series that revolves around a handsome young man named Seishu Handa.
If you had to define which anime were a major part of my early anime fandom, Rumiko Takahashi’s Ranma 1/2 is one of those. I’d always wondered what happened to the series, especially since you can never find it on the shelves anymore.Viz Media is finally remedying that by putting the anime on their streaming site, collecting the series on DVD, and re-releasing the manga in 2014.
A few days ago the October issue of Nakayoshi magazine premiered in Japan, and buried deep within were the promotional cover images for the first two volumes of the upcoming Kanzenban (or “perfect”) edition of the Sailor Moon manga.
From the hardcore anime fan to the casual, Shinichiro Watanabe’s Cowboy Bebop is beloved and to this very day it’s still shown on Adult Swim’s Toonami block on Cartoon Network. When it came to my attention that Watanabe has a new anime series coming out in early 2014 called Space Dandy, I just hear creator of Cowboy Bebop and I’m sold. Which may be many of you out there too, but to detail further it’s a comedy series involving an alien hunter named Dandy who is and I directly quote, “The dandiest man in space” with a robotic helper named QT, and another character named Meow, who’s a cat alien.
We have long suffered a drought in new Sailor Moon material, this winter though the drought ends with a new series! That’s right a new Sailor Moon series is on the way, originally set to debut this summer, the series got pushed back to the Winter season.
On Saturday, I had the opportunity to attend the anime con known as MetroCon. Dubbed “Florida’s largest anime convention”, it does indeed live up to the hype. The event is in its eleventh year and shows no signs of slowing down. Sadly, due to my work schedule I could only attend one day, but Saturday is the busiest day of the three day convention, so it wasn’t a complete loss.
Hey otakus! We’re back with a fresh roundup that’s got some awesome news that you’ll definitely want to set off fireworks for! Hope you had a great Independence day! Now on with the news!
